It's been a while...

It has been a while since I gave an update.

Well, the boring life part rings true. Things are not exciting. With the risk of covid, and the colder temperatures, we are not doing a whole lot.

We go to work--Hackley is in-person all five days a week (for
now). I go to physical therapy. Chris runs. We are taking walks while we can. We occasionally go to dinner at a few safe places. On Saturdays, I check out the farmer's market

That's about it.

There was the rare exception of last weekend when we had a few folks over on the deck for champagne to celebrate Biden's win. On a rare occasion, someone comes to meet and socialize Tassie

Our biggest excitement really is Tassie
, who is currently acting like a tiny terrorist by running around attacking everything in sight including, unfortunately, Chris' legs.

I fear that our lives are about to get a whole lot smaller very soon. I cancelled a haircut because of the covid rates rising in the area. NYC schools could shut down as early as Monday.

On the health side of things, I am doing ok. I have weekly therapy appointments (physical and mental). My left leg is a bit tricky and, despite working on strengthening it, it has a habit of collapsing on me unexpectedly.

Many of you have asked about how I feel about my new medical team. I think this post has been delayed largely because I don't really have many kind things to say.

I can start with the good news: My new NP Alicia is fine, I simply do not have the same connection that I did with Tiye. Alicia promptly replies to me, e.g., she called me and followed up on a day that I stayed home because of nausea (10/30/20). She is very professional. I just wish she were more interested in getting to know me, and stayed for my appointments.

My new doctor is kind of lame. He has little interest in speaking with me. He sends in post-docs instead. When I addressed this, and highlighted that it led to problems in the past, he did not want to hear it. He never asked me how I was doing, and did not even look at Chris who took the day off to come to the appointment until I, somewhat rudely, said "This is my husband Chris." so that he would break eye contact with the computer and look at us.

It will be hard to build the relationship because I was switched to a 6-week routine instead of the 3-week that I had been doing for the past year. (I asked about this option because I felt trapped in the state of New York. I literally could not travel because I was not allowed to go to the hospital if I had left the state.)

I still have not heard the results of the EMG test six weeks ago--which is not great because my left leg is getting worse. I have now messaged several people about it.

I have another appointment Monday. I am supposed to have a PET scan, but unfortunately it was denied.

So, same old story.
