Home!

 Dear Friends,

I am HOME!

I was discharged on Monday afternoon. We picked up the eleventy-billion meds that I am now prescribed (steroid taper, meds to counteract the side-effects of steroid taper, more pain management stuff, etc.). I got home in time for take-out Chinese--which was much better than the diabetic-friendly meals that I was receiving at the hospital!

At home, it is so much easier to rest. I think my anxiety is lower, so that my stomach is happier. I can walk around and retrieve my own water. It is very freeing.

In general, I am doing very well. The nerve damage is just really painful. The parts of my left leg that are not yet numb are constantly shocking me; and if you touch the skin, it is kind of like burning/broken glass. It makes wearing clothes/blankets tricky. My left leg is pretty weak, but I walk on a flat surface really well, stairs are (much) harder.

I slept about 5-6 hours, which is a huge improvement. I was also able to rest and even doze a bit during the day today. Amazing.

It is Chris' birthday today, so it was lovely to be able to celebrate! I woke up super-early (not on purpose), made coffee and a little breakfast for us. I gave Chris some presents, including some Jamie-made t-shirts with her new cricut. He LOVED them! It was a great start to the day! He went to work. I couldn't resist making him a cake (box mix, unfrosted; let's not get crazy here!). Then, we had some friends bring us dinner. We are so very lucky and loved.

Happy birthday to Chris! He is the best, best, best. He really takes the "for better or for worse; in sickness and in health" thing super seriously. I am so lucky.
