The bright side!

OK, so I know that the steroids make me tired and occasionally grumpy, but they do let me DO a lot.

I don't know that I have more energy but I have the ability. I am able to stand and get things done. I still need to take breaks, and to sit for a while and rest in ways that I never did before.

Last year, I didn't make a single cookie. I barely got a card together for the holidays. Everything was a tremendous effort that I could barely lift.

This year feels much better. I love that I got to do a little cookie factory (in the tiniest kitchen ever!). I love that my holiday card was on time. I love that Chris and I collaborated on a handcrafting an orange liqueur for the gift for his friends (and a few other lucky drinkers). I found the recipe. He did the work. I painted the art for the label, and then created the labels. It was superfun!

On Thursday (12/17/20) we had a snow day, and so I made apple butter in the crockpot the night before. Got up around 5am and tried my hand at canning for the first time! After that, I made us waffles for breakfast. Then, after a small break, made chicken pot pie for lunch! Chris baked some cut-out cookies, and we invited our friend's kiddos over (masked, of course) to warm up after sledding and decorate a cookie or two. When they left, I decorated the rest, taking my time and nice pleasure in the fun of it.

I am also eating again. My stomach is still a bit off, but the steroids make me insatiable. It is an odd thing to eat so much after eating so little, but I am totally into it. And, quite frankly, the holiday season is a great time for an appetite!
