Happiest moments and one big bummer.
The school year has truly begun!
Chris and I are excited to begin our 7th and 4th years at Hackley, respectively. Chris is settling in to his new role as Chair of the History Department. It is a bittersweet transition from dean-ing; Chris loves working with the students, but he is very excited for the new challenges that department chair will bring.
I continue to work full time as the Lower School Psychologist. I love the students and my colleagues.
September is my busiest month and I am enjoying running around to all the classrooms to introduce myself and all the cool things that are finally coming to fruition after years in the making like a proper social-emotional learning program, "calm carts," movement break areas; as well as continuing the great programs in place like Hackley Playday, Snack & Share, and Character Ed.
We wrapped up the summer with taking Kenny to Legoland, a visit to Richmond to see Max, a Tour de Bébé (3 brand new babies in one morning!!), and Lauren & Tom's long-overdue, love-filled wedding in Minneapolis! It was all so wonderful and it is impossible to choose the best moment.
My top three would have to be:
♥ Eating ice cream with some of my favorite people on a beautiful Minneapolis night while laughing harder than I have in years.
♥ Taking Kenny to Legoland's theatre for a 4D movie that made him laugh harder than I have ever seen before.
♥ Snuggling babies....always the best!! But these three babies are particularly important because they were made by some of the best humans on the planet.
Stupid Spuyten, that little devil in my spine, decided to grow.
Not a lot. But enough.
I have a PET scan scheduled for the end of September. We hope that the growth they saw was like an artifact of the MRI or something along those lines. We are not jumping to conclusions or freaking out just yet. I got my infusion today, as scheduled. We are not re-starting the axitinib unless the PET scan suggests that we should.
So, for now, I will throw myself into work and take it all one day at a time.
