so....covid....
The big news is that I contracted COVID from one of the students. I was informed that I was a close contact on Wednesday, and then Saturday morning I woke up with a sore throat and felt totally yucky.
I immediately tested positive (as in, the liquid had not even made it to the "control" stripe before the "test" stripe was solidly blue).
I had been masking at school, but the children no longer have to wear masks, even if they are alerted that they are a close contact-- which was the case of this particular child.
sigh.
I called my med team and was told that I qualified for the anti-viral drug Paxlovid which prevents hospitalization of high risk people. Chris picked up the prescription, an oximeter, and sent me away to Bluebird Ranch with the hope that he would continue to test negative, which he has so far done!
I am feeling pretty meh. I slept most of the day. I have a bunch of symptoms-- sneezing, sore throat, headache, congestion, chest congestion, body aches, fever, etc. but nothing worse than the flu.
I am hoping I am much better by Wednesday evening because the Wisemans are scheduled to arrive on Thursday for a Legoland adventure.
I feel like this timing makes me want to scream "WHY CAN'T I HAVE NICE THINGS?"
sigh.
