Spring Break 2023

I am noticing that these updates are becoming more like quarterly updates-- and I think that is reflective of where we are. Things are fairly stable. There are a variety of ups and downs, but I am mostly OK. I have another set of scans coming up next week and if you don't hear much you can assume that no news is good news!

Chris and I just wrapped up spring break and are in the home stretch of the school year! We are very much looking forward to the summer holidays, and a trip to France with students! We are also counting the days until Aunty Jill and Uncle Trevor arrive over Memorial Weekend!

For spring break I spent the first week welcoming a brand new BABY to the family! Robin Marie LeTard made her debut on Sunday, March 12th! She is absolutely perfect and big brother Max is utterly besotted by her.
I enjoyed helping Max have a little extra love with baking a cake, scootering all around, a trip to the children's museum, playing doctor with baby Robin, play dough, a trip to Target, and more! We had a great time hanging out, and I got plenty of baby snuggles as well. Chris and I can't help ourselves, so we are returning for the Easter weekend to soak up as much family as we can!

We also spent time with Chris' family in France! We had a very Beauty-and-the-Beast vibe throughout our stay in smaller towns and cities in France. We started in Reims--the heart of the Champagne region. We received an incredible education at Veuve Cliquot including what a total badass Veuve (Widow) Cliquot was!  We then went to Verdun and experienced some of the unrest from the protests regarding the increase in retirement age in France. (There was a fire in the middle of a roundabout and we were not permitted through. It was a minor inconvenience for us-- but an experience all the same.) Verdun was hauntingly beautiful. For me, it was a big lesson in history from my favorite historian and personal docent, Chris Loomis. (Sidenote: I totally get why all his students love him.)

From Verdun, we travelled through many tiny french villages to Flavigny-sur-Ozerain where Janet has renovated part of a medieval chateau into an adorable apartment! It is adorable and incredibly well done!

Chris and I adventured a bit through Bourgogne to Dijon and Beaune.  We enjoyed a wonderful education about the wine in Burgundy from Maison Champy amongst other delightful adventures.

We loved the ceremony celebrating John and Janet's union. We met about 25 of her lovely relatives and spent time with beloved Laguna friends.

We made it home in time for a quick sleep before returning right back to work the next day!

Summer is up next and I can't wait!
