HellooooOOoo Spring!

 Helloooooooo spring!

The temperatures are finally rising just enough to trade out the long heavy winter coat for a reasonably sized jacket. I am thrilled to be exiting this long winter and inching towards the summer.  February and March have been super-busy. I feel like I have had real plans almost every weekend.

I spent a theatre filled weekend with CVD in NYC. We saw Wicked (we needed to find out how it ends! #sawthemovie) which was incredible!! CVD fangirled over the Elphaba actress who she follows on instagram. Meanwhile, I learned that this story is totally about friendship and got a bit misty seeing it with a friend for whom the lyrics "because I knew you I have been changed for good" mean so very much. We also saw Titanique which was a hilarious take on the Titanic story as told by "Celine Dion". It held a little less meaning but many more laughs. We also explored lots of vegan food in Chelsea Market while chatting and visiting. It was so wonderful to be together again!!

The following weekend I flew to VA to help Beau with Max and Robin responsibilities while Lanie was in the hospital for monitoring because her water broke at 29 weeks. She and Baby Boy are doing well, but they still need lots of bed rest and check-ups. I may spend part of Spring Break with them depending on how things are going.

Last weekend, I was feeling pretty impulsive and did a thing:

My hair was coming in blonde after The Great Alopecia event of 2024. (I believe there were also a fair few silver hairs in there as well, and folks were being a bit too kind.) The stylist suggested blending it with some highlights. I was not quite expecting how light it would be, but I am going to just go with it!

To test the hypothesis that blondes have more fun, the current plan for spring break is for Steph and Elizabeth to join me in Laguna for a 40th birthday celebration! We have plans for sun, shopping, and sunrise walks with lots of catching up! Chris will spend the next week coaching and enjoying lots of exercise in the sunny weather. I will spend time at the beach reading books, doing needlepoint, and maybe even some exercise too... we will see! If Beau and Lanie want some Aunty Mandy help, then I will fly to them and enjoy some nibling time instead-- luckily Central VA is also pretty sunny, and the kiddos will be sure that I get exercise.

On the health front, things are pretty stable. I have been having a lot of tummy issues, which can be hard to manage. I was prescribed something to help, but if I take it too close to another med that I take twice daily, the interaction is "suppressed breathing" which certainly can't be good. sigh. On the bright side, I am working hard at PT and trying to rebuild lost muscle. My last MRI was pretty stable and no one is worried about me right now. woohoo! I may actually be on the upswing! Fingers crossed!
